Since discovering GFSA, how has this benefited you? Has your life changed?
First off I didn't know there were so many serious guitarists in this country. Didn't know so many appreciated good music or even heard of Tommy Emmanuel , Eric Johnson etc. Must let you know that I have been in Family man mode and haven't ventured out from music room for many a year, so this could be the cause of my isolation.
This is like a support group for Guitarists, following on from Snowcone's thread on "the day music died", this is the place to be for encouragement and support.
The Knowledge and information that is shared is priceless and first class. Just have a look at the Lessons thread. Hats off to Satriani
Need to know anything about modifying your guitar(or anything else) , Alan you are the man! All the recording advice, brilliant!
As I stated in an earlier post. I dream about guitars and different tunings and pedals etc. since joining the forum. So different to just buying guitar magazines all these years, they just dont talk back to you when you ask them questions.
Thanks to all of you that contribute but special mentions to Norio, Alan, Renesongs.
I dont know if what I am trying to communicate is coming across, I dont have the literary skill of one Bob Duberry, but
I really dig this forum

I certainly changed my life 8)
"getting free info from alan..........priceless"
Hopefully one day norio will get nominated for a SAMA.
Mhhh, I think we should suggest to them that norio should get a SAMA for his contribution to the music industry.

True True, I think everyone has the potential to make a contrabution to this forum...
Weve got programmers, graphic artists, artists, marketers, filmers/video-editors, sound engineers, writers and many others in here.
For me, GuitarForum has put me in contact with people who have similair interests too me. And after all , most of the time
friends are made by having similair interests.
So really ...
Were just a bunch of friends talking about stuff we love....
And I think thats cool

Oh so true!!!! ? Well for me the first day i sighned up i learned how to harmonize guitar parts, found a guitar teacher and realized that the SA music scene is going somewhere after listening to ppl`s recordings.....there is a get toghether getting organized in ct for all GFSA members and that is pretty cool.Without the forum none would be possible,Long Live GFSA!!!!!!!
AlanRatcliffe
...given me a lot less free time. ? Well actually, it means I don't spend as much time browsing other guitar forums as I used to.
GuitarForum has put me in contact with people who have similair interests too me.
So true. That's the biggest thing for me.

For me, GFSA is one of two sentinel events in my on and off playing since about 1980. The other one is a year or two of jamming with a friend who really taught me a lot.

Squonk hats off dude just the topic i was hoping for this evening.
Put it this way, today we discussed a similar topic and the posts i read and the encouragement i got
were amazing so much so that as i got home i picked up my Les Paul plugged in my boss dist pedal
practiced my G scale then kicked the pedal and whent off my rocker i jammmed as if there was no tomorrow
and it was insane my hands were doing their own thing and i ripped through a variation of chords that made
up tune so awesome i had to stop to make sure i was actually playing my axe.
i cant explain the feeling i had when i put down my guit it was as if the wall standing in my way of moving
forward was blown to pieces by the insane riff travelling down the neck of my axe through the pick ups into the lead amplified
by my dist pedal and http:// BOOM opening my mind to a positive outlook on
what could be, what should be , and what will be.
all of this from a couple of mates i have never met before but understand me better than most people i know.
Thanks guys and thanks GFSA

Intense man ? ? ?
I know what you mean. Sometimes you get this weird inspiration from God-only-knows-where and you can all of a sardine play stuff that really excites you. It's a BIG high!

GFSA has made me smile.. like this: ?
except i have a nose haha.. but yeah definitely learnt a lot and inspired me to practice more.. thanks guys ?

GFSA has given me new inspiration. I never would have learned how to record had it not been for the forum. It was only a few weeks after joining that I laid down my first piece or two, admittedly they were atrocious but I think that the quality and content has improved dramatically and this is all thanks to GFSA.
It's a wealth of knowledge - it's a family. There's zero animosity amongst the members, we all help where we can - we relate, no matter what the level of skill is.

'ere 'ere Spykey..
Like I said before...This place is my support group ,keeps me inspired to play and improve daily...
Its given me the confidence to try my hand at working on guitars, luthiering etc.
I have learnt more in the last 10 months than in the last ten years..
Thank you GFSA,Norrie,Alan and all the other members who have made my time here so rewarding..... ?
Guy-Onraet
GFSA is great on so many levels. From making new friends and jamming partners, loads of excellent resources covering EVERYTHING guitar, the friendly Tuesday comps, the big comps, the collaborations, gear buying and selling and the respectful and well mannered attitude of the members, it’s pretty much exactly what the SA guitar scene needed.
Explorerlover
Well, for one I think it saved the neck on Talman ?......This forum is extremely enlightening, plus the chats and debates about gear, other muso's etc etc is a massive plus

This place is the business, and the people here are awesome!
Thanks for taking in a noob - to be honest, since I've been on (and it's only been a week) I've reduced the skin on my fingertips to callouses.
I go home, I play, I wake up, I play - I"m busy figuring out a way to bring my Iceman to work...
Lads and lasses, long story short, it is my honor to be here...
CDee
Well, all I can say is that this is a great site. ?
This site has helped me come out of my "comfort zone". I've been playing for about 6 years, but the last 2-3 years it's been the same stuff and I have been "stuck in a rut". But since I've joined I have been challenged to try new things. For instance, I would have probably never tried to record myself. Now I have done it for the first time and I've even entered a comp, which I would have never done...
So, thankyou to all the contributors, you have inspired me to grow! ?
Ray
HEY!! Look what I found. So much love!! Nooit ek se, it really is grand. Every now and again I just meander thru the threads and you see some really group sessiony stuff which is just down my street, ne. Now for me this is a good place because people ask questions here and dont get really badly jumped on like I see on so many of the forums which I only pop into once in a while to see who the latest lynching has been. Oh ja and the amp section on HC has got some really nice stuff but not about guitars or music for that matter. So, here i have asked questions and I guess upset people a bit sometimes and got a kick or two in the tolchoks without feeling like anyone wants to kill me. So, any of the new boys and girls want to share something with the group? And I have got such a spangees now I wish that someone would bring up the t-shirt and cap thing again.

As a newbie to the forum and a returnee to the music world this forum has been a source of great info and advice.
what i really appreciate is that ppl are prepared to give their info and experiences expecting nothing in return. its a non competitve forum if that makes sense.
and i hooked up with a great teecha to boot ...
