I'm sure many of us are hoping and waiting for Tool to eventually release a new album, think its been about 5 years since 10 000 days was released.

In the meanwhile Maynard started this side project, anyone given it a good listen yet? I only heard one or 2 songs, little bit reminiscent of A Perfect Circle no?

Any reviews? Is it worth getting?

The songs I heard where disco EBM style stuff. Call me a prude, but the name is a bit iffy. The first album is called: "V" Is for Vagina

I've listened to most of the Puscifer stuff that's come out - if you're listening because you need a fix of new Tool material, don't bother. It's nothing like Tool. If you're keen to hear something very different, and not too serious, then it'll be worth it. Don't get it if you're easily offended by obscene lyrics, and don't try to take any of it seriously. I like it, but it's really something you have to listen to for yourself, nothing I can say will help you make up your mind.

I prefer their newest album (Conditions of my Parole). I find it is more straight forward song wise than V, less random crazy stuff. I like the album titled song, "Conditions of my Parole"

I used to be a HUGE Tool fan (Bought all of their albumns, even considered blowing a grand on the Salival DVD at one point...) But I get the feeling like they don't care about their music anymore. 10 000 Days to me was a piece of shit. I hated the whole albumn... To me it sounded like a re-hash of Lateraulus, and a bad one at that. I get the impression from Maynard that the only reason why Tool would ever release another albumn is due to contractual obligations with the record label...

I always thought Puscifer was a joke band like GWAR or Green Jello ??

G-man I have to disagree with you on 10000 days but I think I can relate to why you didn't like it.

I first got into tool in 96 when Aenima came out. That album smacked me so hard in the third eye I went and bought Undertow and Opiate and listened to those three albums a million times, memorised all the lyrics blah blah

When Lateralus (and the perfect Circle stuff) came out I was like WTF is this crap ?

Problem is when you are a super fan and your favourite band takes five long years to release an album you have massive expectations based on their past work and are almost definitely going to be disappointed when they don't take the direction you expect them to.

When 10000 days came out I had no expectations since I had totally given up on Tool (and heavy music in general) so when a friend played it for me I loved it and I remembered why I got into them in the first place.

I went back and gave a fresh listen to A perfect circle and Lateralus and had to admit to myself that they were pretty awesome (Lateralus especially)

I actually had a good laugh at myself when I realised I was just like the schmuck Maynard talks about on the song Hooker with a Penis ?

Haha, they're a step ahead of you - that's the name of their remix album that they released in 2008 ?

Doh, re-reading my post made me realise that I'm in the same boat dammit... ? (minus the nipple rings and new tatoos, ofc),

My taste in music went into a retrograde like pattern and went much heavier, I thought taste in music was supposed to get more mellow the older you got... ??? So it's not their fault that I didn't like it I suppose.

And without Aenima I wouldn't have discovered the brilliance that is Bill Hicks. I have a whole bunch of his live shows on CD thanks to Tool, so it's not all sour grapes.
