Chorus suggestions please?

I have owned a few chorus pedals and found most to be a little to "brittle" or crystaline for me. I am looking for a nice warm, lush chorus that is also preferably true bypass or more importantly very transparent in bypass mode, as I need to use for both acoustic and electric guitars. While I am sure that most Chorus pedals can go from the subtle to the extreme, I never really use anything other than the subtle application of most effects so the extreme capabilities are not really important at all.

Suggestions, ideas?

Some ideas:

Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus - the cool cat range of pedals is true bypass and mega cheap in UK. I am collecting the range and all the pedals I have got so far are amazing value. I haven't got the chorus yet but it may be worth checking it out if you can (I don't think there is a supplier in SA!)

Boss CE-2 - these were made in early 80s but you may be able to find one 2nd hand if you have a keen eye! The follow on from the legendary CE-1 and known for it's warm sound

EH Small Clone - legendary pedal but not one I have played

A lot of the top choices for electric (like the CE-2 and the Small Clone) might not make you happy on acoustic - they have a tendency to muffle the highs.

The TCE SCF (Stereo Chorus Flanger) is one of the best I've ever used (and I'm not a chorus guy). One major thing about it though it runs on mains voltage, so you can't just get one from the US, you have to pick one up in Europe or here. Does save you a PSU outlet though...:

The new TCE Corona Chorus is a likely contender too. Much smaller than the SCF and with the power jack on top. The tone and FX level controls are nice touches. The tri-chorus setting is great as it lets you thicken up your sound without the traditional pitch mod warble of chorus, making it a top choice if you like subtle:

Otherwise, also take a look at the Red Witch Empress Chorus, which lets you mix in the chorus and also has a bright/dark switch:

And the Diamond Halo Chorus lets you mix chorus and phase independently to get some very Leslie/Vibe type tones and lets you use an expression for speed:

Thx everyone - some homework to do again. I was thinking about the TC Corona as I bought the Hall Of Fame Reverb recently which I am impressed witha nd have heard good things about the Corona...

I used to own the Cool Cat chorus years ago but didn't really care for it.

There are two cool cat choruses, the original larger dedicated chors Cool Cat pedal and then the new Cool Cat range which includes a chorus (together with distortion, fuzz, vibe, overdrive etc).

I was referring to the new Cool Cat range which like I said are true bypass and mega good value for money. Probably can't compete with Alan's recommendations but then they come at a price. So depends on your budget really.

Ok I thought they were the same. The CoolCat I had was the "Lime Milkshake" coloured early model (early 2000). Sorry, didn't read your post correctly.

Try the MXR Stereo Chorus. It's by far the best chorus I have ever heard.
I have one and it doesn't even compare to the Boss Super Chorus that I used to have.
