Well, no one likes ads but it's a pretty necessary evil for a free service like this so I'll be adding some Google Ads into the site shortly.
If you see something you like, please click the ad for more info but, otherwise, you can totally ignore them.
I'm placing one in the first post and one in the last as I think those are the places that will get the most attention.

The amount of traffic this site if getting. Its gonna reap in some cash ?

Not necessarily - I get 15 - 25K page impressions a month on my site and my Google ads only net me $10 or so every three months. It helps, but it's almost not worth the effort. For this kind of site it may be best to get the stats up high then start chasing real adspend from distributors and stores.
Norio, what are your major costs? Hosting? I may be able to help there as I have a reseller account and already host a few non-profits.

I've got my own server so I get bandwidth at quite a good rate (for SA, that is) but there's plenty that goes into this that I didn't realise before now. Simple things like:
- Prizes
- Delivery
- Design
It's still early stages so the promotional costs are a bit high. Later on, I imagine bandwidth will become an issue.
Francis, Alan's right, it's not quite so simple as that. I've studied AdSense over the past 18 months and there's quite an art to get those ads converting into clicks!
Alan, would you like some help? Placement is 90% of the game.

I think no one clicks on the google ads because sometimes the links are totally irrelevant to the site you are visiting. The thing is you would click on sites that is similar to the site your at or sells something of the same. Like just now the ads on this page showed me MYSQL links. Just a thought ☹

Actually Francis, Google is very good at targeting the ads based on content. So this page shows up with ads for Elixir strings and we are talking web site stuff, advertising and promotion, so it's actually right that MYSQL and other hosting-related ads show up.

It usually takes a day or three for Google to figure out what a specific web page (or forum thread, in this case) is about and then it will serve up suitable ads.
I've used advanced content-targeting to make sure it's even more accurate so it's really quite optimised.
