Its always the same with me. If the water is cut off I am extremely thirsty and dying for a drink, if its raining I want to do some work outdoors, and when the power goes out, I really really need to play my electric guitar! I really need to look into a small battery powered valveamp.
Anyone else go into these instant withdraws, just because you become restricted?

very interesting i love battery powered gear ...and have a whole rig that is battery powered when i do some gigs.........

i see the industry is finally waking up to battery powered gear ...roland make a very usable AC33 20W battery amp and then offer the BA330 and Ba55 as battery powered PA/multimix /fx speakers ....also behringer make a 40 W battery powered amp that once you change the small 5 inch speaker it kills ...(i swopped it for an 8 inch...and it even sounds cool with a 12 inch ?) also crate make some batterry powered amps .........the taxi 30W and 50W versions...... also vox make a small lower powered battery amp with modelling and fx only 3W but i use one in my rehearsal space for soft practise........ but it sounds way cool........ orange also offer a battery amp (but it sounds horridly thin) and i'm ignoring all the micro cubes and mini stacks that are all about 1W but can't be used at a small/soft gig ......... so yes lots of battery powered guitar gear with modelling and fx available these days ...behringer even make a full 10 channel mixing desk which can be battery powered too .........so we getting there

BUT if you build a battery powered tube amp ..........please call me , you have my number ? i'd love to hear that ,

my suggestion is to build a small battery powered amp that can handle small gigs like farmers markets ect ....... but not with only one input ....... but maybe a 4 channel amp with reverb and eq on each chanel and enough power maybe 50W and a 10 or 12 inch speaker so an all in one lightweight and compact tool for the muso doing outdoor gigs where just a soft but pleasant sound is needed so no tinny shrill 5" speakers ? unless you have a stack of em .......

so please design away ....... you have one fan here waiting to see what you can offer .........

Keira said most of what i wanted to say. I would be interested to hear whatever you can come up with but surely a tube amp will chow batteries in double quick time.

i use a vox mini 3 which is awesome and have a mini mustang on order (if an when it ever gets here is another thing) and love battery operated kit for the flexibility.

so if you ever get something off the ground keep us informed.

A couple of years ago I had a conversation with Sez Adamson that went something like this
Me: These power cuts are a nuisance.
Sez: I love them!
Me: What?
Sez: I grab an acoustic or semi-acoustic or my dobro and I can practice for hours with nothing to distract me.

Which, I suppose, is a case of making lemonade from the lemons that life sends you.

Yes the accoustic..haha, it more what we want to do when our hands are tied vs what options we have left to do.
@keira. High wattage is not what I was thinking, more in the 1 watt lines, so that the current pull is left low. Don't see why it can't have a line out that goes into a battery powered SS amp
I'm just thinking of a single 12dw7 amp with the au side being the output. Single volume control. Natural drive.
Just only makes sense when the power is out.
