Hi
I recently took my Takamine Acoustic guitar to a local store for a new set of strings. They did a basic setup aswell (lowered the action etc). However since the string change I am noticing that some of the strings are rattling.
I don't know how to describe it as it is not fret buzz... Even if I pluck an open string hard, there is a rattle/buzz. This sounds terrible especially when amplified or recording...
I did notice that the string gauge of the new strings was lighter than the original set that were on the guitar. The sound is also now a bit too "tinny" for my liking.
Any idea what could be the issue?

I think you've answered your own question - lighter strings and lower action than before. You can try adding a touch more relief to the neck by slacking off the truss rod a little, but that won't work for the first few frets. I'd say take it back and get heavier strings again. If that doesn't work raise the action a touch more again too.

Hmmm... something to do with that setup, I'd wager. Especially if they changed the string guage. They should have fitted the new strings and THEN done the set up. If they did it the other way around (or didn't do a final check with the lighter strings fitted) then you can run into problems.
It was fine when they got it, not fine when they handed it back....
Maybe they made a mistake when replacing the strings and fitted the lighter set in error, but really they should have done the setup with new strings and they shouldn't have changed the guage (assuming they did so knowingly) without checking with you.
Have a chat with the guys at the shop. If you have a good relationship with them then they'll see you right.
