I was invited to a couples joint 40th Birthday party at a Jazz Lounge on Saturday night. As per usual if anyone knows that you play guitar, I got a text just before the event to say "Please bring your guitar...."
This was a bit frightening as I am an acoustic player that plays music not generally intended for the average ear (or anyone's ear mostly). But one thing I can do from years of playing along with the TV is doodle, So I thought to myself I will just doodle along and possibly get away with it.
Packed up my Cube 30X, Takamine, Korg Pitch Black (forget all the negative stuff I have said about this pedal, It is the THANG)
Arrived at the venue and discovered a drum set and a drummer ? A year ago I would have feigned sickness, but Open Mic's at TJ's have helped with my confidence monumentally.
The drummer was cool and just fitted in with what I was doing. I "Jazzed" up a lot of my own compositions did huge amounts of improvisation, I didn't know what I was going to do next but it flowed. The first time I have done this. I am sure there were a lot's of bum notes etc, but was it exhilarating and scary all at the same time.
Another positive (Sorry Norm) the Cube 30X held up well, played through the Roland Jazz Chorus channel with a smidgen of Delay, with my Takamine, actually sounded quite Jazzy.
Damn photographer never got a picture of the Cube, Also sat down for first time, I always stand....
The drummer was hectically good, followed me, and lay down a good groove that we improvised for about 45 minutes
