Although the Fishman Spectrum Aura DI I use for acoustic guitar has a compressor I am using my D-Tar Solstice more often now as it is just so much better. I am also awaiting the Red-Eye which I have heard great things about and it suits my need for a smaller package DI (
http://www.fire-eye.com/welcomepage.htm) and therefore need a compressor for both acoustic and electric use.
Due to the primary purpose of acoustic (about 80% of use) it needs to be true bypass and have very little colouraton of the tone. From my reseacrh I have narrowed it down to these few and was wondering if anyone has heard them or can advise on what to purchase:
1) Barber TonePress (I am unsure about whether True Bypass but it seems to get great reviews for being very transparent)
2) Diamond Compressor (Opto Compressor)
3) BBE Opto Stomp (Opto Compressor)
4) Keeley Compressor
in short - HELP!!
Some say that the only way to go is a rack compressor but I don't want to go this route (although I once considered it...).
