How many ADHD kids does it take to change a light bulb

Nice discussion i must say.

i trust no one either real or dead is actually offended by the joke , it really is light humour, i have a big nose and well u either laugh with or crawl into a hole really.

Squonk , i was close to pulling the trigger on getting one of my lads in there, einsteinian IQ a nd all that. was impressed with the school. The lad chose a normal school however as it was more "mainstream". my youngest lad is beginning to exhibit the same signs so mebbe this time round i may have a child in the school. We wait n see.

ADHD most certainly does exist , as Warren so thoughfully put it , Warern btw , you got a good head on yr shoulders as do a number of ppl here at GFSA. I cannot expand on the subject any more than already there. My only opinion on the subject is that ADHD is over diagnosed and if parents got off their arses a bit more and spent more time with their kids and were more interested in the development of their kids the amount of Ritalin that gets dished out may be reduced. And yes, taking Ritalin to be able to focus better is common, not sure its widespread but it is common. I dont have a problem with it , if we improve because of drugs i dont really have an issue with that , we gotta evolve. A mate of mine has taken ritalin most of his life and now his wife cant conceive cos his tadpoles are a tad sluggish ... this is what he tells me , intuitively it makes sense but who knows eh.

its a lovely day ,time to go change lightbulbs

i certainly hope no-one took my "that's not funny" comment seriously. there have been some pretty stoopid things posted, but mostly just incredibly helpful and insightful ones. i don't believe this is the kind of site where a thread would be deleted 'in case' it led to something unsavory. oh well. it's been a lively debate, but i'm pretty sure that if the medical profession can't come to some kind of consensus on the issue by now, a bunch of guitarists sure isn't gonna do it for 'em.

I haven't read the whole thread (I don't have the attention span) but if every 2nd person you meet including many of of your family seems to suffer from ADHD chances are that you are a boring old fart.

Well attention spans seem to be declining, or impatience is growing. We like everything in small, easily processed bytes these days. It's amazing that we can pay attention to a song long enough to get to the guitar solo.

So maybe it LOOKS like lots of people have ADD.

what's amazing is how few songs these days seem to even have guitar solos. on the radio stations' playlists anyways. you have to rely on friends' recommendations, scouting itunes, browsing your cd/vinyl collection...
