wow thats amazing
i really want to learn to play that kind of style, but i dont know where to begin to educate myself, i can do the basic, but its those chromatic things that grabs my attention
Get yourself some Hal Leonard books... get to learn the form.
http://www.amazon.com/Hal-Leonard-Country-Guitar-Method/dp/0634039490/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1325663850&sr=1-1 Thats a cool one by Greg Koch. Then just some other country books will help... Steve Trovato has quite a few books and videos and is a mean player too. (Greg Koch is a super mean player). Then theres the songbooks... like the Hellecasters (destroyed my hands).
If you ever see a Brent Mason video - don't get it. I like the guy a lot, he's quite a character in the video (never stares at the camera and terminologies all go wrong for him. Kinda makes me think guitar jock - although that is not true - but if you watch that vid, you'll see why I said this). The Scotty Anderson video - well, for when you're brave enough. Well, mostly anything from Arlen Roth's Hot licks series will do (where these two came from).
Regarding the chromatics, they are approach tones to the chord tones or to the scale of the chord. Get yourself some
Buster B Jones videos. Youtube is your friend to get an idea of his level (jaw drop) but his teaching is first class, a real country gentleman too. If he makes a mistake, "oh... sorry, excuse me). He shows you how to make licks, and where they actually came from... in a very easy to understand way.
Good luck man ?
