two 'oriental' restaurants in jhb's northern burbs - wang thai (for thai food) in nelson mandela square. a bit pricy, but most excellent food. and saigon on rivonia road - vietnamese cuisine (no surprises there) - relatively pricy too, but not as much as wang thai, and the food is brilliant.
+2 (one for Wang Thai and one for Saigon).
There's a Wang Thai in Brooklyn (Pta) as well. I suspect they may have been the original one (the certainly preceded the Sandton one) but they're just as good. Another Thai chain that I'm quite fond of is Kai Thai, although I've only ever been to the one in Randburg (Fontainebleau).
Question 1: What are your favourite Indian restaurants? We're always looking for a good Indian restaurant (and I'm not talking that crappy Durban Curry rubbish). We've had two favourites which have both closed down. Our current favourites are probably Sitar in Cresta shopping centre and Ghazal in Bryanston (where I think the food is better but the ambience is a bit lacking).
And I'm sorry, I don't care how many "Best of Jo'burg" awards they've won but Karma in Greenside is crap!
Question 2: Does anyone perhaps know of decent Korean restaurants? I love Korean cuisine but it's not all that common in SA. I know of only one Korean restaurant in Jhb which is in Rivonia but they look decidedly dodgy. Any others that I don't know of perhaps?
