I'm currently looking at adding some sort of modulation pedal to my board. I'm just battling to find ONE that i want. So i've decided to add a 'swiss army knife' mod pedal.
I'm looking at the following:
Line6 M5
Line6 MM4
TC NM1
I know that the M5 does everything, but that's not swaying me. I'm merely looking to add to my board, not replace it with a multi-fx unit.
Anyone have any experience with the above mentioned? I do know that the eventide modfactor is a great pedal (possibly better that those listed) but it's more than double the price.
Please fire away ?
Vick
M5 is fine, nothing wrong with it i guess.
The TC is sounds good, easy to use, quick to tweak...get the NM1?
Ps: i have no experience wit the MM4, but doubt its better then the nova.

The Mod Zero comes in a little more expensive than the others, about $50 more.
I can get the TC and the line6 for around $200 each. It's a tough one :'(

MM4 is nice and simple, easy to use and pretty good sounding, but I found a bit of a volume drop with some of the sims when kicking it in. Older unit so can often be found relatively cheaply (I think we were selling them at R1.5K in the L6 blowout sale). It's a bit big if pedalboard space is an issue.
The M5 does the effect modelling very well if you are chasing some fairly authentic vintage-type tones with the character of the originals. And of course, it has more FX than just the mods too. Patch changing isn't great. As with most L6 stuff, needs AC power - and lots of it, which means no running it off most board power supplies.
Nova Mod has the best user interface and is very powerful (the dual engine means up to 2 FX at once). You either like the TC modulation or you don't - very sweet, very clear, pristine studio-type sounds which work really well for cleans and for acoustics or when you want clarity. What it doesn't do as well is the real chewy, grungy type sounds some guys like (think real Univibe, Small Stone, etc.) - it's a bit too polite.
Mod Factor is still king, but at a retail of $500 ($400 street), prices itself off most pedalboards.
My Preference, in order:
1 - Mod Factor
2 - Nova Modulator
3 - Line 6 M5
4 - Line 6 MM4

Thanks Alan,
After some youtube searching and reading your post, I've ordered the Nova Modulator.
Should get here in 2-3 weeks ?
I was very tempted to go with the m5, just because it does it all. Then i remembered why I sold my multi-fx unit and went for a pedal board of stomp boxes ?

Just remember it will be a US 110V power supply...

As far as I know they run off both 110 and 220, well, that was the case with my nova delay ?
That aside, I fortunately got the TREX Chameleon power supply that gives me the 12v option ?
I appreciate the heads up though, thank you.
