'63 VOX AC30 a total makeover

'63 Vox AC30 in a much neglected state

the chassis.....a copper panel model with original painted covers Woden transformers...very rare

the dismantled cabinet being prepared for covering

recovered by Gene vd Meulen...great job in record time !

one of the Blue Celestions that will go in there....I got this speaker about a year ago from Karel not knowing that one day it will go back into its original cab ? ...small world !

Beautiful.
I love these "resurrection" threads.
I think at a primal level it invokes a sense of hope - nothing is so broken that it can't be repaired with the right amount of love, commitment and effort.

I've allllways loved vintage vox's. I hope one day to own one. Still dream.
But at least I can build my own...... Vic, wish you could play on my latest amp, would love an opinion!! I'm just to far away... Too bad.

Lovely amp, and an awesome job of restoring it.

I also wouldn't mind having an old AC30 around as a fixer-upper and for studio. That's if Vic leaves some for the rest of us... ?

It is voiced more british (AC15), so went with the G12M. I dropped the cathode follower, and put in a single valve reverb that goes into the unused side of phase inverter, so when dialed down, doesn't interfere with normal workings of amp.
