Hey all
I was wondering - I heard somewhere a few years ago that you must never take all the strings off your guitar because your neck will bend. Is this true?
also to what extent is this. Can I take all my strings off for like an hour to clean the guitar or to change strings or should I take them off 1 by 1 instead and replace them when I'm done cleaning that section?
Is this merely a long term problem for like storing a guitar for a year?

It's fine to do, go for it. The longer they are off, the longer it takes to settle when you put them back on.
There are some good reasons to do strings one by one on certain guitars - a guitar with a tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece (like a Les Paul), the bridge and tailpiece will fall off without any string pressure. Also it makes it easy to tune the new strings to the old ones as you put them on - but if you have a tuner or agood ear, that's not a problem anyway.
