Well, just recently I became aware of logos and the like and this was in the Fender context and how it is frowned upon to actually use a non-Fender Fender logo on a Fender instrument. You know what I'm talking about? Well, I mean putting a logo that looks pretty much like what Fender makes on a real Fender instrument but just Fender didnt make the logo decal. So, some places dont like that and apparently Fender likes it less than everyone. Well, that's the story and it's the way things work so we'll try and go for the legal way. But that's nopt really the issue here. Just a little interlude to get your juices going. What follows is the actual purpose of this post.

If you have a guitar and it's a good guitar - (in fact it's an SG and it's not a Gibson and there are quite a few right here in this house who say they reckon it's better than a Gibson) - and you need a case for it but you havent been able to find a case for it in the past 6 months or so and for all the world it doesnt look as though the next 6 months or so are gonna be much better. And you dont want to get a Stagg or similar. You'd actually like the actual brand but that's not gonna happen. WOULD YOU buy a Gibson case and put it in there? I just dont like the idea of carrying a Gibson case around and whipping out another brand guitar. Or maybe it shouldnt be an issue?
Haha, for all intents and purposes I wouldn't be phased. The logo thing is understandable when say someone puts a fender decal on a warmoth fiddle or similar. As for the case. Well, its a case and if its going to protect my instrument I could care less what it says. I would even stick stickers on the case with other brand names on it and not be stressed about it.. Err, ja, hope that came out the way it was meant to :-[
You should have bought a Gibson SG standard...then you would have got a case with it..... :? . All SG standards are sold with a case...I dunno 'bout the SG specials if these also come with cases ?
But why does n't the better-than-Gibson SG have a case ? ...it really should have a case..... ( I mean there's a case to be made for this....) ?

However IMHO....only a Gibson is good enough to sleep in a Gibson case....(just in case you were wondering...) ?
My gig bag is a Gibson branded one (a nice thickly padded TKL). I've never owned nor will ever own a Gibson and I do take some small perverse pleasure in whipping out a non-Gibson guitar from a Gibson bag.

But no, it's not an issue. It's the brand of the case, not the guitar and people don't expect you to whip out an SKB, Hiscox or Gator guitar, so why should you be expected to unleash a Gibson from a Gibson case?

Well Vic, maybe I did. And I may be one of those who reckons these are better than Gibsons. Then again, I may be someone who is completely unqualified to make such a judgement.

But that is nowhere near what I am wanting to hear. I dont want to put this other guitar in a Gibson case and not because I think that Gibson is better or that this guitar doesnt deserve it. You see, everything aout me is just all about image you know. And it's just not gonna look so lekker.

Your other questions I cant answer. And you provide no comfort for a troubled soul either.

No worries Ray...I'm all tongue in cheek... ?
If you can get a Gibson case, put this SG in there...why not. But then I have some suspicion you are going to be uncomfortable with that hey ? Why not get a no-brand case ...? I guess that'll solve the problem...
My Larrivee has a Cort case. It has the C... word in big gold letters. Don't bother me none, though I can't imagine that there'd be too many okes trying to pass a Larrivee off as a Cort.

I don't see any need for you to worry. You're not trying to pass your guitar off as a Gibson.
You could always get the Gibson case and fervently wipe with some Benzine or something stronger to rid it of its malady, hey Vic? ?
Not an issue at all. Gibson makes cases. Also cloths. Also pickups. Also t-shirts. They do not expect, nor should any reasonable person expect, that you must have one of their guitars to justify owning one of these other products.

Otherwise you shouldn't wear Caterpillar shoes unless you also own a 3 ton front-end loader.

Edit: Actually their cases are made by a Canadian contractor. But they're Gibson endorsed and branded. So it's the same story.
Worry not. My Washburn HB32 travels in an Ibanez case and my Tele travels in a Suzuki gig bag. It is not the name on the gear, but what you do with it ! ! !
I have a German brand bass guitar gig bag for my American brand guitar. Screw labels and logos!

I had a fender T-Shirt long before I had a fender guitar.... And I still have an Ibanez T-Shirt long after I sold my Ibanez guitar. I sleep alright at night.
Using a Gibson bag for a non-Gibson is cool.

However, putting a brand logo on an item that is not made by that brand is a no-no.

                            LOL..
                            ...what's your case ? ?
I needed a case for an ES-330, so bought a hardshell tokai case. I immediately removed the badge
So people would'nt be expecting a superior instrument and be disappointed when a Gibson comes out.
Hehe, touche! Couldn't have that happen.. We all have our reputations to maintain after all

Haha ? In this case though ('scuse the pun), it's a '60s Gibson, so it needn't be ashamed in the presence of Tokais ? ?

I get that people may expect the same brand instrument to come out of the case, but that is not a particularly realistic expectation. All it's based on is that hard cases are often supplied with guitars - hence the brand match. But really, cases are an accessory, not a matched part of the guitar.
