Recycling guitars

Here's a snippet from an ad I just saw on Gumtree for a Cort acoustic (the ad is old)

"This is an urgent sale. It has to be sold before 5 Dec, as I am moving overseas.
If it doesn't get sold, I'll be sending it to a local, wood factory to be recycled for various furniture items. I would prefer to sell rare instrument: it is no longer being produced by Cort"

Why would you ever recycle a perfectly good guitar?! ??? Rather give it to someone on the street. Besides, how much furniture could you make out of an acoustic guitar anyway?

Andy's shop is now closed, but this project continues. Several GFSAers have given guitars to this project in the past.

i suppose you could make some interesting custom guitar-oriented furniture out of them. but yeah, i agree. a project like andy's is a far more worthy recipient. i bought an inexpensive guitar from someone on the forum and it was in andy's shop around the time it was burgled and when he subsequently closed down. i made the decision to donate it rather than wait for andy to get himself up and running again. felt good.

i'd rather see that happen any day to any of my guitars than know that a neck was now supporting someone's early evening gin and tonic. oh well. different strokes.
