I found Best-Decals in Allan's list and they got pretty much what I need. Is there anyone who does decals locally? I need it for a repair to a bass headstock.

Any signage company should be able to help. When I did sandblasting the company had a signage standard vinyl cutter to make negative patterns for blasting logos etc onto glass, and that thing could do some intricate stuff, and that was 8years ago.

Yeah, that is the route that I normally take too. I've just found that there is a limit to the size font most cutters can cut. The smaller it is, the less accurate it is cut. There is also a very real chance that the smaller, thinner painted letters, or letter outlines peel off when removing the vinal mask. The fender logo has always been a "problem child" in this regard.

I have had some success with waterslide decals which was a bugger to find a supplier, but I got them from http://www.jgelectronics.com/.

Then clear coat over it. I looked at vinyl but was advised that its quite thick and would require quite alot of clear coats.

I'd like to know how he managed to iron it on without burning the wood.

It's actually just one of the regular stick on ones, so he didn't even have to iron it.

OK, I've been thinking here. Well, before I did the thinking I did some phoning and asking questions becasue you dont want to think too much if it isnt necessary. I phoned the SA distributor for this particular brand of bass guitar that I have. Becasue on the website I read the instructions for getting the decal all legal. And it's not fun but it is the way that I will go to start and only veer toward the dark and murky underground of counterfiet decals as an absolute last resort. Other wise I'll just leave it unbranded I guess if my nerves cant take it. OK, back to the thinking. I was thinking what if I got the thing delivered to or collected by someone in USA and they just mailed it to me? I know people in the USA I must just get contact details becasue I havent been in touch with them. I am damned sure it will save on money becasue I would imagine that the local distributor would want some sort of compensation for their effort. And also the local distributor tells me that when they order from USA it comes via Europe and they tell me that it will take long. So instead of counterfeit I'll be heading to contraband. Either way it's exciting hey?

But just by the by, yesterday I played golf with quite a stange outfit. Listen to this, these okes own a printing business. And the one oke is married to a woman who is the mother of the woman the other oke is married to. And they all live in the same house. And I'm looking at this lot and the oke who is married to the mother looks to me to be a bit younger than the other oke. But they were pretty decent and the golf was good but it was always in the back of my mind what the heck goes on here. But anyway, I asked one of them about this decal thing and he said but that is so easy except they arent doing too much at this stage of the game and I'll be in the back of the queue and he didnt seem to think it was too important and I dont really want to do it if I dont have to. Anwyay, I was still thinking about their domestic setup when we parted company so I forgot to get contact details but I'm boiund to bump into them again I guess.

I see he sells clear waterslide or water dip laser paper on bid or buy as well
