Amen, I'm still using an MT-2, playing it through a decent amp goes a long way goes a long way to getting some great sound out of it. Through a small practice amp, they usually sound like a swarm of really pissed off bees. I've had 4 before I decided to hold onto the last one that I bought. I won't part with this one for the earth.
As for the HM-2.............depends on what you're after. MT-2 is the pedal to have it you like thrash music. I've had both and I prefer the MT-2.
Shop around, you can get them 2nd hand for about R350 for a good one.
