A big whatever.

(a) There are many more record buyers today than there were in the time of the Beatles etc. Population increase, increases in wealth around the world (especially taking into account the fact that many developing countries now have burgeoning middle classes with disposable incomes - South Korea is an extreme example)

(b) Some of them didn't even release singles (Zeppelin - and thus Jimmy Page is in another league richer than Rhianna)

(c) There are many more people who're not really that interested in music buying music than there are people who live for music

Dave mustaine is very critical of Billy Cyrus's album ,,,MEgadeth released an album and it opened at no 2 in the US charts , it never got to no.1 because of the Cyrus album ? Dave could not believe that achy breaky heart was better than his album ?

Singe makes important points that should be ananlysed , it goes beyond just numbers...... oh an shania twain can do no wrong ...anyone that hawt deserves to sell gabillions 8)

Here's another: Kurt Darren has sold more units amongst white South Africans than Elvis and the Stones and the Beatles combined :? It's certainly no reflection on the class of EP or the Beatles or the Stones ......

'twas ever thus really, and so what? As Marilyn Monroe said, "those who know better know better." There's nothing to stop anybody seeking out the good stuff and laying their money down for that. I think we're more empowered now than we've ever been to seek out and buy the music that we deem to be valuable.

I also think that Celine Dion song is rather good. The rest of her stuff is crap but that one in particular has something to it.

Well then you'd better cut Justin Bieber a break too ? After all, about three quarters of his fans are probably ten.

I've often said that Celine Dion should be prevented by law from singing anything except national anthems. Her unbelievably brassy voice is suitable for nothing else, but very good for that one thing.

Sadly this brassy metallic sounding voice really caught on over the last ten years among white American singers. Awful.

the people on the right is still alot more successful compared the people on the left, taking in consideration how many perfromances and years and albums they have and still going on

I don't understand the huffy-puffy-uppedness over Bieber. He's just another Little Jimmy Osmond or, for that matter, Donny Osmond or even Michael Jackson (who was on TV before he was a teenager). Every generation has at least one.

I suppose it's all about where you're coming from. I suppose in the 1950's someone could have written..."Elvis Presley is selling more records than Al Jolson and Bing Crosby combined !" ?
