Best guy in town (Pretoria/ JHB) for a re-fret?

Hey Guys,

A friend of mine is considering to have his guitar re-fretted, but obviously we need to get the low down on who, what and where...

Any recommendations as to who the best guy is for the job, and how much one is looking at more or less? As mentioned the guy must be in JHB/ Pretoria area.

I've recently dealt with Jed at Music Connection. He didn't do a refret for me, but he did level and dress the frets on my Larrivee. I thought he did pretty good work. NB! The workshop at Music Connection is pretty busy as they get a lot of work that used to go to McGibbon's. Andy McGibbon is still taking on work, though I don't know exactly what sort of jobs he is taking on.

Hey, check out "Costafonix" on the forum. I dunno if he does refrets, but his tech-work is highly recommended in your area ! 8)

Hey man,

Go see Andries Vorster in Atterbury value mart.
Uses stainless steelfret wire which is oh so purty and lasts forever.

he has refretted 3 of my fiddles. Any issues pop up over time, he redresses and all that for free.
