Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm wondering if anyone here has ever bought from Amazon? I want to buy a Gibson Les Paul Studio Faded Cherry but the cheapest local price is from Take2 (Takealot) at R 10 859.00 who order from Amazon. I can order one from Amazon for $700.00, excluding delivery, VAT and clearance fees. Would this be a good option or should I just stick with Take2 and let them handle all the shipping and clearing fees or is it safe to order directly from Amazon?
It's safe to order from Amazon. Whether or not it's cheaper is another matter.
You can start setting up an order, and at eact step of the process they will give you the dollar price. Just don't go to the last step - they will explicitly warn you before you do because that is the point of no return.
Note that they will hit your credit card when the item ships, not when you place the order, so you can only get an approximate price whilst placing the order.
There may be extra fees imposed by the couriers.
Either way I doubt this will be the end of the spending. You'll probably want to get the guitar set up. Unless you can do that yourself factor that into the equation as well.
Whoever you order from, make sure that they really can supply the goods. Now that there are official Gibson dealers in the country, Gibson themselves may stop Amazon from selling into SA.
