Elvis Presley had enormous talent imho. However his early years ('56-'60) to me were his best....the raw Elvis. I enjoyed the movie " Elvis-- the way it is" (I think that's the one he was in black leathers ?).
That was as sort of "come back" show, Elvis trying to return to his rocking roots. His performance in that is great, and it shows how charismatic a performer he was at his best.
The movie that was on last night has been shown repeatedly the last couple of years. Elvis past his best, but not totally gone and with, it has to be said, a crack band that included James Burton, Jerry Scheff and Glenn D Harding. Elvis knew how valuable his backing musicians were and made sure that he had the best.
