FNB Live whisky fest taking place this week at Santon Convention Centre... Joburg. Its only 3 days running from Wednesday evening till Friday. (Did anyone go to the Cape Town one? I see that it was 4-6 Nov...?)
This will be the 3rd consecutive year I will be attending, from previous experience I can testify that it's a very cool experience. Lotsa fun!! :goodtimes:
Entry is only about R200 pp, you usually get a cool tasting glass, food voucher and some whisky tasting coupons. With these coupons you can taste various whiskies, any brand you can think off. I'm talking about serious whisky, 12 - 21 year old, stuff like Bushmills, Jameson, Glenfiddich, Talisker, GlenLivet, McCallan etc.
They usually have interesting workshops where they explain how to taste and smell the whisky or even how to make whisky coctails. If you are not a whisky drinker dont be fooled by the usual 3 options of Bells, J&B and Jameson you find at the bar, I'm convinced that there's a whisky for everyone ?!
Its kinda formal and I think they target business ppls / yuppies, but screw that... you wont taste those awesome whiskies anywhere else unless your willing to dock up some serious $$$$$$
Give it a go if its your kinda thing, needless to say too much tasting can lead to whisky hangover, which is a super mutant abomination hangover which has evolved from normal hangover and is exremely unpleasant.
