Vox in a name?

Sean

There is a second hand Vox AD50VT 212 on Gumtree for R5000. Marshal music has the Vox Valvetronix AD50VT selling for R3895. Are these different amps? If so, how are they different? I was following an earlier discusstion on the amp and decided to look at some reviews. Out of the seemingly hundreds of reviews all seemed favourable, of course I now am not sure which amp I was looking at if indeed these are different amps? I'm willing to try out the one at M music to see if I like the sound, I'm looking for a full, rich, blues sound. Budget (as always) is a factor. Any ideas? Am I missing something with regard to the different names?

Hey Sean

As far as I know, the AD50VT 212 is the 2x12" speaker version of the AD50VT, which means heavier, bigger and more bass I think.
Where do you most often play?
You can get loads of different sounds from this amps modelling technology!
Guys seem to love them around here!

Good luck! Remember, always ask for discount at a music store!

The 2 x 12 is most probably the AD50VT XL , which is more geared for hardcore / metal music, and it is more expensive. I have the AD50VT and it is a single speaker.

Post a link to the ad if you want me to double check. So yea for the tone you want I think the single speaker one is the correct choice.

Like kayDUB said, the AD50VT 212 is the two speaker ( 2 x 12) version of the AD50VT.

Oh ok, I didn't know that they made an AD50VT 2 x 12. I haven't seen any of those around when I searched for mine, so I thought the listing on gumtree may have been an XL series, specs here -> http://www.voxamps.com/us/valvetronix/xl-series/#page_specifications.

I think some people might confuse the two, so to be safe, ask the seller to post a pic and compare the grill and amp cover. The "normal" AD series has a black cover and shiny grill, and the XL series is grey and has a black grill cover.
