REVIEW :
The Twin Tube pumps out silky smooth / creamy overdrive tones. A lot of pre/amps can produce a good sound
but when youre chords get animated. (Think along the lines of Stone Temple Pilots/ Filter / Velvet Revolver)
the chords loose their definition. In other words , only single sustained tones retain clarity and power.
This was a huge issue for me and needed something that would allow me to produce these moving riff-based sounds.
The Twin Tube solved this problem for me. I can produce full sounding modern high-gain riffs. And that is impressive for
a unit that is advertised as "Great for country, blues, surf, classic rock".
I tested it first with a Ibanez JS100 (Pearly Gates/ FRED)
and then with a Fender Baja Telecaster. Both guitars sounded great through it.
The Twin Tube certainly has its own sound. I used it with my GT8 and it fattened up alot of my low gain preamp patches.
Pros: Ease of use, Low noise level, Produces the "tube" sound.
Cons: No mid control.... , Almost all of the the recordings will need some mid adjustment, otherwise it is simply too full(mids wise).
Rating : I give it a 9/ 10 , -1 (for no mid control)
Conclusion : If youre looking for something that can give you a classic Tube sound and cant afford a big amp , this is for you.
This is a well-designed and built unit which is really more of a pre-amp than a normal "Pedal".

Interesting A,
How much do these things cost and are they available in SA?
andrewjbryson
I got mine R2 700 from Lee Gold Music East London
There should be a few shops that stock these units in C.T / Jozi
where are you based?
Matt-White
Pta/Jozi. Wonder who's bringing them in? Anyway, sounds like a good way to drive a valve amp that doesn't have a master volume control. Might look into it.
Mr-M
Seymour Duncan = Andy McGibbon's. Played on one there like a year ago and seen 'em there recently too.

Aha, tx! Will drop in there sometime and have a look. Sommer at some pickups too!
