I know its not much use on its own and leaves quite a bit of research to be done, but asfar as i know the only rivits that allow for a shape like ( ) are hollow core. They need to be knocked over to rivet as opposed to a poprivet where the ball on the end of the steel shaft flares the rivet before its sheered off inside.
I dont know the tipe of board you used or the thickness but i do know poprivets tend to expand quite a bit over the diameter, if the material allows, this might lead to crackes.
Thanks dude, that's much help. Pity those Rivco guys are only in CT and PE but at least now I know to look around for "semitubular rivets".
