Quick Reply

Does everyone know about the Quick Reply functionality the forum offers? It's been there for a while but it only just occurred to me that, with it's obscure position, not everyone would know about it.

Basically, while you're reading a thread, you can scroll to the bottom of the page (press 'End' on your keyboard), click 'Quick Reply' to expand it and then type your message and click 'Post'. It's limited but I find it offers more than enough for daily use.

Advanced Use: While browsing a thread, open "Quick Reply", click inside it, and then scroll up to a post you'd like to quote in your reply and click "Quote". The person's message will be fetched and dumped into your quick reply box, and you can then continue. This can be used multiple times in one go and so is very useful for replying en-masse to multiple replies on a topic.

The only time I DON"T use the quick box is when I am starting a new topic, otherwise I use it all the time and always have from the beginning. ?

Ditto. What surprises me is that you have to ask. Why can't you measure how often the "quick" way gets used? ???

Coz I'd have to custom code something that measures one versus the other instead of just asking for feedback.

haha...wish i could tell that to clients when they ask me a stupid question like "But how do i know people are gonna click that?"

this i didnt know about, and now i am sooo grateful for reading this thread, will save me plenty of much needed time!!!

Glad to know some folk are benefiting from this info. I for one would rather have the quick reply a little higher but the mod won't allow that :/ Maybe I should make it look all firey and stuff ?
