In the early 60s, in London, acoustic guitarists looking for a club gig were often auditioned by a club owner who would demand that they play "Anji". Davy Graham's signature tune had become the benchmark - play that and you were OK, but if you couldn't then "next please!"
So, as Martyn explains, this piece is his response to those demands.
