MIK Squiers - any good?

The cash crusaders down the road has a korean squier strat in the window for 1thou. It has the smaller headstock and aged plasticware. The Fender 50th ann sticker on the back of the headstock is the same as the one on my baby blue mia strat, so it's also a '96 model.
Now I really really don't need another guitar right now. But for that price.....
So somebody please tell me they had one and it was k@k so don't bother, or give me a few good excuses why I shouldn't miss out on her.

Meh.

Saying that. Play it and see for yourself, I guess. I sold my Korean Squier to makepeace for a heck of a lot less than that. I couldn't justify charging more.

No amps in the place. The neck is nice and smooth, frets look o.k. Action is terrible though. Also the hardware look super cheap and shiny.
I was hoping somebody would say ' great guits those old squiers. Much nicer than the new ones. Upgrade the cheap bits and you have a keeper'. As it stands, I'll probably let it pass.

Thing is, they are entry level guitars. Some are downright awful and some of them are actually not bad ? Even playing it unplugged will give you an idea of what it is like.

The list of entry level guitars is pretty big. Mundane's Yamaha pacifica is way better than a squire in my books and he's selling it for a bill under a grand. I'm sure that he'd be willing to help with shipping, plus he's a straight up guy to boot.

I found certain Ibanez Gio models to be better made than the squire.

Too late. Somebody else bought it. But thanks for the input fellas. I have more than enough great guitars, so another fix-her upper would have been money wasted.
In hindsight I reckon though that if you need to ask for validation whether to buy a guitar or not, it is'nt speaking to you loudly enough. Probably with good reason too. I will try and remember that....
