As a side note, I actually believe that the Hendrix versions are indeed better (which doesn't mean I prefer them). They are better because they were first. Not only do they involve great guitar playing and emotive performance but also do they include song writing genius. The covers only contain great guitar playing and emotive performance but no song writing genius. But don't be sad, two out of three ain't bad ?
