Would it be hard to make a delay pedal?

sadly yes. start with the easy stuff first.

there is some other effects out there that is easy to build.

i upload some pics of the bread board pedal developer i am gonna build, you dont need any experience with soldering, you can just stick it into the board and connect everything up.

If anyone has suggestions, keep em coming.
maby even upload a how to build tutorial......

aldough i dont think everyone would want to build the same thing.

so maby adding a few options to choose from, from correct schematics.

and end of the month when its dealine time , you show a picture of your pedal.

Cool that would be great ? Any idea how much the whole board setup will cost roughly? I have an old pedal I can tear apart for jacks and a switch so it would just be the board and pots that take up the majority of the cost I assume...

well you need to get breadboard, either 2 smalls ones next to each other, or a big one.
stick that to a piece of wood, and screw something together to hold the pots and stuff, just makes it neater and easier to work with.

breadboard - (R40 - R100)
piece of wood (most of the time lying around somewhere)
angle iron or something you can screw into the wood to hold the pots and jacks

i think for a first one we do the DOD 250 overdrive, so that its not that difficult for the first timers:

how do you know what pins to connect to the stereo and mono jacks?
and where did you find a reverse log taper pot? can't find one in sa

i used a normal 470k potentiometer, i remember i could not find a reverse log one, so i either used a lin or log, cant remember.

if you check on that link i posted, general guitar gadgets, click on parts layout and wiring diagram, it actually shows where it should go, very helpful if you new to this stuff.

ps. you might have trouble finding a 3pdt switch, so you can either use a 3pdt flip switch until you found a a footswitch

I do have 4 3pdt foot switches. ? That's why i'm so glad that i discovered this thread, 'cause i was gonna start building pedals anyway

Yup thats about right.
I was looking at the stuff at communica and I think if I wrote the part no. down right this is their one: http://www.communica.co.za/ProductDetails.aspx?DataLink=P_100556700547 (Most comparable)

Them fools got three names for one product. Some they call some of them prototyping boards,
others project boards and yet others bread boards, but all are essentially the same thing.

ok here is pics of a rough layout of my pedal board develop.

The aluminium piece on the one side with be for jacks and 3pdt switch, and the other one will be to hold pots and toggle switches.

i decided to get 2 small boards for now and see how that works.

i can use this if i make a pedal straight onto veroboard as well, with stuff holding all pots and stuff together, just makes the job easier.

here is some rough pics, still to drill holes and stuff, the board is supewood and about the size of an A4 paper.

For those of you wondering where to find 3PDT foot switches, you can get them at Mr Valve ( http://mrvalve.wordpress.com/footswitches/ ).
I've used a few of these now for my special brew distortion ? and they work great. If I can get done with my amp projects then I might try to join you guys.
I remember building a DOD250 copy that didn't even come close to working as I never had the right parts. ( I was in college and only bought the parts I could find at one place :-[ ), so browse around for your parts.

I found one of those really old home alarm control boxes , it has a whole bunch of toggle switches and LEDs and stuff, might come in handy when I get time to start one of these little pedals...
