Best is a subjective word when it comes to tattoos ..loads of great guys around though.

The guys in Northriding are good, the guy at 4 ways crossing is good, then the crowd of okes out in hartebeespoort have been highly recommended.

Best is to look at the portfolio and take it from there. Choose well cos its there forever ....

the beauty of the bag pipes is that its the one instrument where you can actually make more money being paid NOT to play them, than too play them..

(I do not have any tattoo's but this is just the few things I've picked up)

Do you have an idea of the type of design you're looking at getting? i.e. caligraphy, portraits, pop-art idk whatever. Every artist has something they're very good at and have had a lot of experience with as far as i know i.e. everyone goes to Kat D (whatever her name is) for portraits on that tattoo show.

Absolutely. I'm looking at doing a Gaboon Viper on my upper right {Strumming } arm with the head on my hand.
{All of this will only happen when I'm 18 tho, wich is roughly a year from now!}

If you do a search for Bone Deep tattoo on Facebook, his cell number is on their page. Like I said he is in Durbs but I know he does travel up to JHB for a couple of days from time to time.

Thank you. I sat on that design for nearly 10 years before I found someone I was confident could pull it off.

Would advise against have the tattoo extend onto your hand. (a) the reason most people don't do this (including heavily tattooed metal and rockabilly cats) is that there are inevitably going to be moments in your life when you neither wish to show off your tattoo, or wear gloves. (b) It's probably not going to look as good as you think. Snakes do not, after all, have wrists behind their heads.

Why not rather have it curl around your forearm so that the nose ends just on your wrist?

But good move on looking out for someone who's really, really good. Do not skimp. A bad tattoo makes you look really sad. Also think about whether you want get more tattoos (without an apostrophe hopefully) later. You don't want to end up looking like a series of doodles on a pad next to the phone (an Ankh, Jimmy Hendrix smoking a joint, a flaming weiner dog on roller-skates, "I like petrol stations" in Japanese characters (thinking that it says, "I am the eye of the storm").

Gaboon adder is a good choice though. Meaningful to you (I presume you get them where you live), unusual, and a very attractive snake to boot.

I'll echo that comment about keeping tattoos off your lower arms, hands and will add your neck as a no go area. Mine was carefully placed to allow me to still be able to wear a normal t shirt and it is fully covered.

I also don't know if I'd get a tattoo at 18 even though I got my first one at that age. I don't particularly like it and will most have it covered at some stage.

The dragon was done at age 33 after thinking about it long and hard and refining the design for years and I love it. Other arm will get done next year and back the year after.

I am gonna be all adult like , and i hate being that but i gots to agree with some of the sentiments above ....not on the hand and generally not below the elbow ,,,,well at least until you have your 3rd multi platinum album behind ya or u won a big lotto.

Look , i love kat von D as much as the next oke ,no actuall,y more than the next oke , a whole pile more in fact, i reckon she is vavavavooom HAWT but reality is unless you going to be on the fringes of society your entire life there is still prejudism against tattooed ppl and u never know where life gonna take you.

i have multiple tat's , all hidden generally ... an will have lots more done in the future but above the "collar" line , below the elbow for now is not on.

eish , i hate being all adult like , gonna g oback to being a teenager again
