I have seen many forum members sell gear at below market value for whatever reason
*cough* ray *cough* ? ?
Sometimes they need the money in a rush, sometimes they are just looking to get rid of the item quickly, but most of them are married (eek don't shoot me)
So how about the forum takes advantage of this in the following way:
If you have some cash laying around (like R100 or so), invest it into the forum kitty. Then, when someone has gear to sell at good prices (Im sure ray has a truckload more stuff hehe) the forum kitty buys the gear and advertises it on Gumtree. When the gear gets sold at a small profit, the proceeds are split between the investors and the running costs of the forum or charity.
Some members seem to be very in tune with selling gear (MikeM for example) and they could help out, especially if they are allocated a seller's fee.
I suppose it would be an online pawn shop of sorts.
And now that I have typed this out it sounds like a terrible idea... :-\
I think its a very good idea...the only problem i see with it is this,
the person doing all the buying and selling is taking on a huge responsibility, if he/she buys something that does not sell, that money is practically wasted...
but nonetheless, not a bad idea ?
