Ok so the final coat of Clear sealer has been applied and sanded. Tomorrow we meet to finalize the color.

So I visited NeonGecko this afternoon and looking at the grain and the colour options, I decided to go for something a little more natural looking and possibly more conservative.

Thanks to NeonGecko for testing quite a few options until we decided on "the one".

Sorry Slyd, but this refinish is happening in real time. After a little experimenting we eventually settled on a colour. I had to wait for the "test" coat to dry properly over the weekend. Tomorrow I'll sand that splotchy coat off and get the proper coat on... ?

Ok, so here are the pics before the burst is applied. It won't be your traditional burst but a gentle fade into a "brownish" burst on the edges -= no black, and the edge grain will still show through.

Pics of the burst should be up in the next few days or so....

So I woke up a little late to this little problem. The original pickguard did not use standard mounting screw hole locations. This can be a problem when wanting change to a new pickguard in future. So of course I spoke to Wayne about this AFTER the first coats of finsih was applied!!!

Wayne decided to "turn" 2mm Ash pins to plug the existing screw holes. this will tehn be sealed and then touched up with an airbrush. Then he'll go onto the burst.

A close up of the side. The brief was for a translucent burst to showcase the end grain. I didn't want the typical black or dark edged busrt and wanted more of a gradual darkening fade to the edge. It was critical to me that I wanted to be able to see the end grain. Looking stunning in my opinion:

NB:I am looking at either a Tortoiseshell and/or aged white pearloid pickguard - anyone know who stocks these (preferably Fender parts as I know they will be consistent in the hole placing)?

I can't believe how much better the guitar looks with the brown and the slight burst. Man it's awesome ? Can't wait to see what's next ?
