Second to the matrix,this movie had me searching for "nzt" type drugs and pondering how awesome an effect like that would be in real life...though its not entirely possible, the theory of only using 20% of ur brain and 100% with the drug makes sense, but like research has proven,its not possible...my theory though is that if we just learned to concentrate more and train ourselves to be more aware of our surroundings we would be able to predict and get through situations with the "limitless" type effect...
Another movie that had me on the edge of my seat for weeks was "Inception"...

It's an old idea (the book Flowers for Algernon - 1958, the film Charlie and multiple episodes of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits), just updated and with added CGI. ? A fun way to spend an hour and a half, but ultimately unsatisfying beyond the basic concept.

We do actually use 100% of our brain , maybne not 100% of its capability but we certainly use all areas of the brain

If a movie had been made back in the seventies with a guy who takes a drug like this, he would probly rather have tripped out, become a light particle, conscious stardust, breath, eternal - anything but ... a super rich Senator ... ?

Well if you think all your brain is designed for and capable of that thinking type stuff. The brain also handles things like body temperature regulation, respiration, various other unconcious functions. It also is the repository for memories.

If you tried to use 100% of your brain for thinking, and your brain let you, you might solve Fermat's last theorem, but you'd also forget your own name and would need to be on an iron lung and have a catheter and other yucky add-ons.

And would it help you play like Guthrie Govan? THAT is the question.

He would have built the ultimate computer which would have done the sums, realised the problem is humanity and started dealing with the problem. The super smart guy would, of course, have not realised that this was going to happen as he would have been burdened with compassion and all sorts of other human frailties. He'd try to redeem himself by trying to unplug the computer, but in the closing scene he'd have been cut down by mysterious rays which the very clever computer had invented but would live long enough to deliver a soliloquy through the fourth wall about how even when man thinks he's clever he's actually quite doff.

Then he'd be turned into soylent green and fed to chimpanzees.

Yes - that's more like it ... and he deserved it too! Not forgetting the giant mainframe computer and 'stunning special effects.'
