  • Anybody tried a Radtone harmonic converger?

These things are apparantly a simple but effective passive analogue unit hand- built by Hadley Hockensmith of past Koinonea and now Neil Diamond guitarist fame. He originally designed it for use with the Boss GT-8 and it is said to give the unit a huge boost in the feel and sound. It can also work with other modellers. I'm still using a GT-8 straight into the PA and am looking to try one of these or maybe move on to a POD HD 500.
While I've never tried one, I always detected a whiff of snake oil about it. For quite a while Radley would not ship internationally either...

At $275 for the stereo HC, you might as well sell your GT-8 and invest in an HD500.
Thanks for the feedback, guys...I guess it will be easiest to just get an HD 500 ?

+1000 on the snake oil. There's only so much you can achieve with passive electronics. I'm willing to bet that inside that epoxy bomb lies a low-pass filter (for warmth) and a transformer (for miscellaneous non-linearity). You could build the same for R50 minus the case.
