strats should really come stock with a rear access panel to the electronics.
...with a tool-free quick release system. ? As long as you keep the top pickguard - I've made rear rout Strats before and they always look a little off. I added rear cavity access on my electric 12 because it's an LP sized archtop and the F-holes are too small to get 25mm pots through.
On Strats I've split the pickguard in two so that I can get to the electronics easily during testing. Then I replaced the pickguard with a one-piece once I was happy. My Strat has inserts and machine screws so I don't strip the threads from overuse (and wouldn't ya know it, since I did that, I haven't had to open it up again?).
So you have two master tones, one a '50s voiced tone (but post volume) and the other filtering everything but the highs?
