My Morgan OM has a 25.5 inch scale length. I am waiting on a Smoothtalker from Mervyn Davis. We still have to finalise the specs for the neck. The standard scale length seems to be 25.25 inches. One quarter of an inch shorter.
I know that scale length does make a difference - especially if you like to use slack key tunings. I sometimes play in drop-d, and have been known to fool around with 6th tuned down to C and the 5th to G.
Will that 1/4 inch make much difference in the real world?

It all depends on what tension you want on the strings - shorter scales like the Gibsons/Fender Jags and Mustangs do tend to feel better detuned/thicker strings IMO.
The headstock back-pitch angle & the neck joint methos will be important
Not familiar with the guitar in Q, but the WOOD choice on the neck is pretty important too.

A 1/4" difference in scale doesn't make much difference to feel. Shorter scales are fine if you are doing the thick string, permanent dropped tunings, but generally if you are just dropping a standard gauge string down a tone or so occasionally, a longer scale length will keep the tension a bit higher and more natural feeling.
