Boss Digital Reverb RV-5

Hi

I just purchased a boss digital reverb. It retails for about R1600 but with discount it worked me out R1200.

Inputs/Outputs :

It has two inputs ( mono and stereo ) and two outputs ( mono/stereo ).

Controls :

* Elevel ( Level of reverb )
* Tone ( Change the brightness ), very cool feature.
* Time ( Time reverb lasts before faiding )
* Reverb mode ( Types of reverb )

Reverb modes :

* Spring
* Plate
* Hall
* Room
* Modulate ( Cool sounding but non standard reverb )

Pros :

Nice sounding reverb with all the controls you need.
Has 6 different reverb types

Cons :

As with all reverb pedals, its pretty expensive

Do you have any experience with the EHX Holy Grail? comparison?

I haven't tried one, but they will cost a allot more. I would say prolly R3500 -> R4000. They are said to be the best

The Grail has a great hall 'verb and one of the much better spring 'verbs. I used to own one.

But the spring 'verb is beaten by the Boss - Fender '63 Spring Reverb, and the Hardwired Reverb pedal will produce a greater variety of other kinds of quality reverb in a much more reliable package than the Holy Grail.

Digital reverb benefits enormously from improvements in technology, so newer is usually better. The Grail shouldn't cost as much as indicated above - I paid a lot less years ago. Electro Harmonix pedals are cheap and poorly made. That's not to say they don't have great sounds, but you shouldn't pay too much for one.

If it's spring you want, the Boss '63 Fender Reverb can't be beat for the money. Otherwise, I'd vote for the hardwired. But that's if you're really fussy about your 'verb.

Did not even know these were available in ZA,never seen one , they run to big money though , looking forward to the special ....
