Ok it needs to be fixed but here are some pics. My dad got it in Spain Madrid in 1980.

Thats where the crack is on the neck :'(

It says inside the guitar its M.O.Contreras. I think thats the make. other than that it has no make sign or anthing

dude, did some digging. i think you have a genuine manuel contreras there. the 'calle mayor 80' is their address. these dudes (father and then son) have been making brilliant guitars since the early '60s. i can't see the extent of the crack from the photos, but i think it would be a sin to let this guitar deteriorate any further if you can possibly help it.

Thanks man. I wish I had the cash. The only thing is the crack the rest of the guitar is perfect still. has a few scratches but thats all.

So is it worth a lot ?

I really want to restore it and learn some classical spanish tunes. Still has all the original parts.

I asked my dad he got it in the 70s in spain.

Yes. Calle Mayor 80. And might I say, it's fascinating when someone discovers a guitar by a well known maker that's lain unplayed for many years. Who knows whether it's valuable or not - perhaps he made student models and it's not worth that much - but the sense of history alone makes it very special. It seems he was a luthier for Ramirez. My adivice: get it fixed, and hie thee to Keira to get some lessons in the art ?

That's a quick and easy repair BTW (some glue and a single clamp, no specialised cauls). Quite common too - I've seen and fixed exactly the same break dozens of times.

i wouldn't have the foggiest how much it's worth, but regardless i wouldn't bet on it being worth more than what it's worth sentimentally. in terms of hie-ing thee to kiera, she would probably be a good person to ask about approximate value, and about whom to ask with regards to what to do with it between now and when you can afford to get it fixed.
