Sean
Okay, here is my intro, apologies for taking a while, believe it or not I don't do forums and this is my first, hence it took me a while to figure out how to make a post.
I live in Sasolburg, work for Sasol (yawn), and I've been playing rhythm guitar for about 16 years, mostly Yamaha's. About a year ago I bought my first electric ,2nd hand, and have been dabbling in lead guitar.
I currently have a Fender Squire (given to me by a friend who went to the UK) and a Casio midi guitar MG-510. The original pick-ups have been replaced by Seymour Duncan's. I have a Crate TD35 (came with the Fender...yes my friend was very generous) and a Yamaha G100-112. My knowledge of guitar gear is still ,however, very poor.
The music I mostly listen to is contemporary christian rock, Third Day, Tree 63, Casting Crowns etc, and a couple of friends and myself have started a 5 piece blues band. It's really early days though, we're all amateurs and I need MAJOR help with my solos. However, we are having a lot of fun, despite sounding like crap a lot of the time.
Basically, that's me. Great site, and I'm glad to be here. Looking forward to learning A LOT!!!

Hi Sean
welcome to the family. John Ellis is good, I have seen Tree63 live a couple of times. At the last concert they did "walking on the moon" and "pride(in the name of love)", I thought Sting and Bono were there along with Andy Summers and the Edge.
How does the Fender Squire play, maybe you've got one of those early JV ones that are as good as the real thing?
Sean
Not sure what squire it is. Hard for me to tell how it plays, bit soon, I've not yet developed an "ear" for sound yet, the amps make it difficult I think. What I can say is that it is definitely not bright enough, apparently that is unusual for fenders, I would not know. I know I'm a long way off from the sound that I do want. I suppose that is normal for beginners.
