Cheapie Telecaster what would you do?

Ok I've somehow convinced myself that i need a telecaster.

I saw a real cheap Crafter Tele at turnkey in Randburg, and this set off my whole craving for a tele. this model doesnt have a mapple fretboard and of course it doesnt have the tele headstock, but for the price i think its a good guitar.

The other option is the SX tele, these come with the maple necks and I think I might pick one up for under the R1500.00 mark, and I've read a couple of good reviews, and once again for the price it seem to be quite ok.

The other option is maybe getting a 2nd hand Affinity Squier, but then i would have to wait for one to become available at the R1500.00 price mark.

What would you do? anyone played any of these?

There are 2 squiers for sale on the forum afaik.

nicovlogg has a butterscotch one and manfred a white one with clear pickguard.
Both want R1500 for their tele's!
Second hand of course!

As a HUGE tele fan i would say if you have other guitars to go on with . Rather save up and buy a real tele , you'll buy one and keep it for life . And i seen , not often but usa tele,s on gumtree around 7 k , i own a fender american standard and it so delivers at pro gigs and is more versatile than you think . I also own a part carter which was based on an sx tele the one with the original tele head stock shape and for the grand i paid it's a gem and awesome for the money BUT can't compete in tone or feel with my american standard at all . But it cost 10 k more so one would expect a huge difference . So long as you know a cheapie can be good and great value for money it's still a cheapie and you will play it for only a while till you get the urge to upgrade , thats why i say try save up and you won't regret it . Haha, yeah i know! Though i only want maybe 3 more guitars, none of which are cheap!

Thanx for all the input guys and gals, i'll visit a couple of shops t-morrow and play the guitars, then I'll try and come to a conclusion, but at this stage a 2nd hand squier sounds good!

Just remember, if it feels good to YOU, then its all that matters! ?

You can always upgrade hardware / pups etc!

I picked up a Squire CV50 for R3800.00 around last Christmas. Not A shabby price IMO. After having an SX, that I thought was great with deMarzio Twang Kings, the CV 50 is light years ahead. It plays and sounds better even than my '91 MIM Strat. Find one in a store and play it. You'll be sold.

I agree with Kiera, hold out for the best that you can. A good Tele will be with you for life. Just Ask Keef ! !

I'd recommend the Affinity Series Squire - very decent for the price. I only got rid of mine to upgrade to the real deal, but I sure loved that Squire.
