I recently got my hands on a whole bunch of free drum samples, in particular the Andy Sneap kick and snare samples and the Chimaira tom samples.
Now I want to know how to use them. I know I need some sort of sampler, but my problem is that I don't want a sampler that only triggers the same sample for each hit. For example, there are about 6 different samples of the Andy Sneap kick, I want to be able to sample all 6 of the samples so that I don't get the 'machine-gun' effect.
Ideally, what I want to be able to do is import my midi track into Reaper, load up the sampler and let it do its magic. So I just want the kick to be triggered on note 36, but for a random kick sample to be triggered every time.
I've been using EZDrummer for the last 2 years or so and I'm thoroughly tired of it. I'm considering buying Steven Slate Drums, but until I have the cash, I want to have a crack at using free samples... so any advice would be appreciated!

Have you tried the EZ drummer expansion packs? That's the only software that varies the samples (part of the "Humanize" feature).

Yeah, I've got Drumkit From Hell, and no matter how I EQ it I can't get a good snare sound, so I've reverted back to the pop/rock kit and use the China samples from DFH.
I'm surprised there isn't any sorta freeware software that can do this. If I was a computer programmer I would jump on it!

I find that between the pop/rock, Nashville, FunkMasters, Vintage Rock and Jazz Kits, I have everything I need for any style of music. The one kit I never use DFH as it's too one-dimensional and Pre-EQ'd to death (metal ?).

Ya I agree.. I find that DFH only has one usable kick sample, and all the snares sound so thin.
I think I have found a solution, there's a programme called apTrigga2 which allows you to trigger multiple samples to replace the samples from EZ Drummer. Stoked! Gonna check it out now, see if its worth the $$$
