Hey everyone

My name is Chad, I'm from Cape Town and I'm 19 years old. I've been playing guitar for about 4 years now and have branched off into the more Prog-metal and fusion side of music, which I think is quite a good thing seeing as I started because of a little old black metal band called Cradle Of Filth (We all grow up eventually). I'm a huge Dream Theater fan and I herald John Petrucci as being the zenith of everything I'd like to achieve as a player, not that I want to be a clone of him I just think that he's a good role model in terms of feel, technique, tone and musicianship.

I'm currently in a Prog-Metal band called Ministry Of Lost Souls but we are currently still in the writing and jamming phases and I hope that by 2009 or late 2008 we'll have started gigging. The only notable thing I've done so far as far as guitaring goes is play 2nd guitar in the 2007 run of a show called Rock Evolution which showcased the evolution of rock from the 1950's till modern day, It was at the BMW pavillion (Imax). Nowadays I'm over the whole cover thing and would like to focus on getting my own music out there so chances are I won't be doing that kind of thing again.

I also work as a casual at Paul Bothner Music in Plumstead where I engage in many rivetting activities such as changing light bulbs, throwing out cardboard boxes and carrying stuff.

I'm an absolute Ibanez junkie and wish to own many many beautiful RG's like the two I currently have. Also I love Dimarzio pickups and Dean Markley Blue Steel strings. I would be lost completely without Dunlop Jazz III's...?

I try to focus on techniques that'll help get the ideas in my head onto my fretboard so I've dabbled a bit in pretty much every shred technique I could find and have a long list of influences from classical to jazz to metal.

Anyway I hope that I can learn many things from this awesome forum and that my limited knowledge may help other players out there to ?

that's true,i've just gotten all the money i would need to get the stuff i want to import and the exchange rate had to go up by like R2 so now i gotta wait it out >☹

it went from costing me like R3300 to R4100 >☹

Yeah. Tony and I've been friends for years. Played together as a duo for a long time, too. You should get him to join GFSA ?
