Hi all.
As mentioned earlier on in a post Andy has asked me to place his press release on the forum.
Saddle and Nut
Andy McGibbon's Guitar World closed its doors for the final time on Saturday 17th September 2011.
The company operated successfully for the last 14 years and became known for its cutting edge merchandise, its friendly service, excellent technical skills, and, of course, coffee.
During this time a lot of friends were made and I'll look back on this period with a wealth of fond memories.
Unfortunately there will be a few negative memories.
My journey led me to dealings with unscrupulous traders, the employment of a sociopath, and a recession second to none in living memory.
The final straw however, came two weeks ago when I was awakened at 2.08am, to be told that my shop had been burgled.
It's difficult to comprehend the feelings of disappointment, anger, and violation I experienced on arrival at the remains of my shop early that morning.
I regarded it as a signal that it was time to move on, time to reassess my role in this industry, and time to revise my business model.
Retailing brings with it huge burdens. Firstly the burdens of stock, creditors, and, of course, debtors. Issues tough enough in good times, and a complete drag when the economy is all but at a standstill.
Perhaps the most telling penalty retailing brings is time. This has become a compelling issue, and my family has been shouldering the cost.
So where to from here?
I've decided to re-position my business as a Custom Shop with a small on-line retail/wholesale component.
All Custom Shop work will be done by me personally, and I'll be focusing on customers who are serious about their guitars. On offer will be an extended range of services and skill sets. The bar will be raised!
Guitars that were booked in for repairs at the shop will be completed at the Custom Shop.
I'll be continuing my involvement with my 'Acoustic Forum', and 'Give a Guitar' initiative. To my mind, these both contribute positively, albeit in a small way, to our community.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all my amazing customers for their support and friendship.
