Allow myself to introduce myself
I am 29 years old, live in Johannesburg (northern wastelands), and I love Jazz Music.
Some of my favourites are Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, Duke Ellington, Paul Desmond, McCoy Tyner, Ron Carter, Ray Brown, Jim Hall, Herb Ellis, Emily Remler, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Hunter, Charlie Christian, Pat Metheny, John Scofield .... the list goes on.
I used to be into more heavy stuff (Pantera, Tool, Opeth etc) but my metalzone has been gathering dust for the last five years and the gain knob on my amp almost never goes past 4 anymore
I started playing about 15 years ago, but in that time I also had to fit in 4 years of engineering and 6 years of 9-5 + overtime so progress has not always been steady.
Most of my life I played with a pick ... but of late I have been focusing on fingerstyle (Travis Picking) with a thumb-pick which I find is the perfect thing for chord melody arrangements and jazz guitar in general because it allows you to switch between comping and soloing very easily
Recently I have been playing (or trying to play) the Boxer, Walk don't run , Sirabhorn, St Thomas, Take 5, They call it stormy Monday, In a sentimental mood, Alfies Theme, Mr PC, Jazzed up blues and my own stuff
