What are the opinions on these models?

Can I assume that these are Mexican made?

What does "deluxe" add on the Strats?

HSS is the pickup arrangment i.e.: Humbucker Singlecoil Singlecoil

I'd imagine the deluxe just adds a variation of extra features such as the Vintage Noiseless pickups, which are quite nice I might add. I use them. All seem like decent guitars, but I hope you not planning on buying them through Take2?

All of those are Mexi - the US models are the signature guitars and any with "American" in the name.

The Deluxe Player's Strats are quite a nice take on the theme. A few things that are different from a Standard Strat:
- Ash bodies
- Gold hardware
- 12" fingerboard radius
- Neck on switch
- Vintage Noiseless pickups
- Some nice finishes (first models with some transparent options)
- Gig bag

Ah, that clears up the pup confusion.
What is the most preferred arrangement?

Should I be able to get it cheaper at my local music shops? IE. TOMS Sandton or Marshall Woodmead?

Those seem like very nice additions!

the american deluxes come with a nice moulded case too.

and sadly a nice increase in price too , +- 50% more than the american standards

but u get S1 switching an the like

R6,405 for a brand new standard strat ? I HIGHLY doubt you will get it that cheap at any south africa walk in store... good price that. go for it.

In theory you should. I've seen them (Std strats) in stores for about 9.5thou sticker price. So if you get the +30% discount that stores apparently offer it should get you close in price. Maybe a few bob more, but then you wouldn't have to wait, you get to play it before you buy it and you will be supporting a local store. So ja, try your luck for that discount. Tell them straight, this is sticker price, this is the online price, I know you do the discount thing so how close to the online price can you get my actual price? If they give, great. Win win for everybody. If they don't, use Take2/Takealot. I have bought two guitars, an amp and a crapload of other stuff from them in the past. Couldn't be happier with my purchases from them.

i got a standard strat out the door with a case , 3 wall mounts, some other goeters etc for 6 clip ...it can be done

Far canal ICM, next time I want something I'm sending you some money and a shopping list! ? Great deal that hey, especially considering lefty guitars are even more expensive than the proper way round ones.

well yes, left handed guitars are sold at a premium over right handed guitars , but the reality is that the market is smaller so stores dont like being "stuck" with stock ..a guitar on a peg is money and there is a time value to money... for instance i have seen a high end lefty ibanez in a store in jhb that has been there for more than 2 years .... now when that gets sold all proft made has long since been gobbled up by interest,opportunity cost and the like. so yes , lefty guitars are dearer but i think there is more room to manouevere sp?.

Store was Music connection Stephan, no sale ..jsut a regular deal ...the trick it so understand the stores positions and their wants and also to stick to your guns and walk away from a deal you not satisfied with.

i get great deals based on a couple of premises, one being try an understand what the stores constraints are , be prepared to walk away , and build a relationship with the guys.. regular spend is important, the guys must recognise you, and dont buy with your heart..... i dont always follow these aspects to be honest cos sometimes i really really really want something ?

You get SSS and HSS and then the Fender blacktops (also MIM) is HH, you should take your genre into consideration when choosing pup configurations.. And also remember for a extra price you can add a coil split to any humbucker which means you can turn it into a single coil with the flip of a switch (or pull of a knob) theres also HSH but there wont be stock fender strats with that combination (i think)
