Eventide PitchFactor: Yay or nay?

Hey guys,

Anyone got any experience with the Eventide PitchFactor?

Got an Eventide Modfactor a while ago and been so impressed with it that the PicthFactor and TimeFactor obviously sparked my interest.

It's quite a pricey beast (at least R4200) and it's distributed by Eastern Acoustics.

Would love to hear some thoughts ?
Especially as compared to the EHX Pog2 and Hog.

Also, if anyone has a used one they'd like to part with, I'd be more than happy to make you an offer.

Eventide rule the high end of the pitch shifting world, aside from the studio software side (they are not very good at user interfaces), where Melodyne is the standard. The HD series rackmounts are the reference real-time pitch shifters by which others are still judged.

The PitchFactor is vastly scaled down compared to an HD, but compared to any other pedal shifter on the market, well... there is no comparison really. Sound quality and capability are better than anything else available (especially if you add in an expression pedal). They are true stereo, are a lot more musical than anything else out there and allow extra control via expression pedals, extra switches and MIDI.

The only area they really fall down in (once again) is user interface. They are less intuitive and more difficult to program, there is no computer editor available (you can update them via USB, but no-one has made an editor), the display is clunky (but clear). But if you are able to come to grips with a ModFactor, the PitchFactor will be no more difficult to use. They are also very big compared to other, less capable units and are particularly power hungry (BTW, they come with PSU, but note that the units sold in the US are 110V only). They do sell a specific PSU for supplying up to four Factor units, which is basically a rebranded CIOKS TC-10.

The TimeFactor is similar when looking at delays (I use one) - it outstrips even the TC units, but has been recently surpassed by the new Strymon TimeLine which has a few things the TimeFactor doesn't have, is more user-friendly and less of a power pig.

Yet I cant get my hands on a Timeline for 3 months now... :'(
Any idea when they will be available locally? and good prices?
Otherwise... SA distributors, dont make me ship more pedals in at half the price!
