Saw Willem Moller (IMHO one of the SA greats) playing a strange looking guitar in a Big Sky gig last night. Had the most incredible tone. Also noticed he didn't use his backup Gibson LP at all, and stuck with this axe throughout. Asked him afterwards what it was, and he told me its a 1962 Epiphone Crestwood. Found a pick of of one on the net - looks exactly like his, same colour, etc. Quite intrigued, as I had never heard of the Crestwood before.

It was at Die Boer in Durbanville.

Magic venue - supper club kind of vibe - good food!

Gig was great - 'bout 50% straight blues ?. Steve Louw was backed by Simon Orange on keys, Willem on guitar and Schalk Joubert on bass (can't remember drummer's name :-[). Oh, and big Rob Nagel on blues harmonica. Schalk is really one of the hottest bass players working the scene and sessions at the moment.

Steve told me they're making a DVD at a gig at the Little Theater in Gardens at the end of October.
