I read somewhere that there is only 2 or 3 major string manufacturers that make strings for all the brands. Can't remember where though. Anybody know if there's any truth in this?
My understanding is that in the USA at least there are substantially less string factories than string brands. But that doesn't mean that the strings are badge engineered - the string company does the research and design and provides specifications to the factory, and the factory makes strings to that spec for that brand.
